Kirsty and John have been together for a wee while, so when they decided to get married, they wanted to do it in their own way. Pretty much they did it all themselves, including having this poor photographer help with laying out bits and pieces in the castle 30 minutes before the ceremony….you can tell it was a pretty laid back affair….
For the ceremony, they hired a local, semi ruined old castle called Portencross on the Ayrshire coast which has been there since the 1300’s. It only holds about 20 or so people for the occasional wedding, perfect place for this pair to celebrate their union with close friends and family. The backdrop of the sea with the island of Arran in the background just helped make this the best of locations.
Headed down in their cool as hell VW camper van to The Catch at Fins Restaurant at Fencebay Farm for some amazing food. Basically they had the run of the place and along with some friends, a barn was converted into the “party” space and the coolest of horse boxes was the perfect piano bar. Their DJ supplied the tunes and when I left, the celebration party was seriously taking off.
A special, intimate and unique wedding, it was an absolute blast to have been able to share it with this great couple and all of their friends.
Thanks guys…let’s do it again 🙂
